TECH | What is this Internet of Things Thing?

You’ve heard people say we live in a connected world, and you totally get that. But what you may not know is how connected it really is, or has the potential to be. Now that Wi-Fi is pretty much found everywhere, wireless capabilities and sensors are being built into an array of devices (things) – everything from your refrigerator and thermostat, to your car and bicycle – and are connected to the Internet. Thus, creating the “Internet of Things,” also known as IoT for short. And now that all these things are connected to the Internet, they can connect with each other – and that’s where it gets interesting and the possibilities begin.
