INSPIRATION | Silent Moments

Call it what you will – meditation, contemplative prayer, reflection – it all serves primarily the same purpose: to spend silent moments, go deep within ourselves. process our thoughts and calm us. How we practice them comes in a variety pack of methods and traditions. Bottom line is, regardless of how you practice, the benefits are undeniably positive. We like to start the morning as part of a daily routine to set the tone for the day. Others may take time out in the middle of a stressful day to regroup. And then there are those who practice at night to calm their bodies and thoughts for a good night sleep. There is no right or wrong way. It is deeply personal and each has their own unique way. However, we love to explore new ways to accomplish our goals of calm, introspection and rejuvenation. Here are a few we found.
Taking time for reflection comes in many shapes and forms. We love this article that provides us with ways to reflect that really surprised us.
As with reflection, meditation is not one-size-fits-all. Gaiam, yes, the yoga mat vendor, did an excellent blog article on meditation for beginners that gives a starting place to find what works best for you.
In Ignatian spirituality, they practice a technique called the Examen. The Examen takes you through a series of steps to reflect on your day, your emotions, what you are thankful for and what your focus will be for the day ahead.
